Founded in 1875 by Irish immigrants in the Cowgate area of Edinburgh, Hibernian Football Club—affectionately known as "Hibs"—is one of Scotland's oldest and most storied clubs. Established to provide recreation for the city's Irish Catholic community, the club's name and green-and-white colours proudly reflect its Hibernian (Irish) roots.
