Botafogo midfielder Danilo, 25, is attracting interest from Atletico Madrid, Newcastle United, Zenit Saint Petersburg, Bayer Leverkusen, and Napoli. The Brazilian club expects his value to reach €40M if he makes the 2026 World Cup squad.

Botafogo's rising star Danilo has become a hot commodity in the transfer market, with at least five top European and Russian clubs expressing interest in the 25-year-old midfielder. According to ESPN, as reported by Planeta do Futebol on X, the Brazilian side expects the player's value to climb significantly if he earns a spot in the 2026 World Cup.

The list of suitors includes Spanish side Atlético Madrid, English Premier League club Newcastle United, Russian champions Zenit Saint Petersburg, German outfit Bayer Leverkusen, and Italian Serie A side Napoli. All are vying for the services of a player who has impressed since joining Botafogo in the summer of 2025.

Danilo has made 38 appearances across all competitions for Botafogo, scoring 10 goals and providing seven assists. His performances have not gone unnoticed, and the club anticipates that his current market value of €24 million (per Transfermarkt) could double to €30-40 million should he be called up for the 2026 World Cup in the United States, Canada, and Mexico.

However, Botafogo has no intention of rushing into negotiations. The club has stated it will not begin talks about a potential transfer until after the World Cup, aiming to maximize the return on their asset. Danilo's existing contract runs until the summer of 2029, giving the Brazilian side significant leverage in any discussions.

The interest from Zenit is particularly notable, as the Russian giants have a history of signing Brazilian talent. Meanwhile, Atlético, Newcastle, Bayer, and Napoli are all looking to strengthen their midfield options. With the World Cup still two years away, the battle for Danilo's signature could heat up as the tournament approaches.
