Manchester United have scrapped their end-of-season player awards for the third consecutive year. The club is targeting Atalanta's Ederson for £40m and monitoring AC Milan's Rafael Leao, but must first resolve Marcus Rashford's future. Arsenal had shown interest in Kobbie Mainoo before his new deal. Casemiro is set to join Inter Miami.

Manchester United have decided against hosting their traditional end-of-season player awards gala for the third year running, despite having secured Champions League qualification. Sources indicate the decision is part of a broader shift away from such lavish events, rather than a reflection on the team's rollercoaster campaign. Instead, personal achievements within the men's and women's squads will be acknowledged privately at Carrington later this month. Manager Michael Carrick has previously emphasized that a club of United's stature should not celebrate merely finishing in the top five.

On the transfer front, United are planning a significant midfield overhaul this summer, with a budget of around £150 million. Atalanta's Brazilian midfielder Ederson has emerged as a prime target. The 26-year-old, valued at approximately £40 million, has just one year left on his contract and is seen as a cost-effective option. Other targets include West Ham's Mateus Fernandes, Bournemouth duo Alex Scott and Tyler Adams, and Botafogo's Danilo. Higher-end options such as Carlos Baleba, Adam Wharton, Sandro Tonali, and Aurelien Tchouameni are also being considered, though United's top choice, Elliot Anderson, appears likely to join Manchester City.

United's pursuit of a left winger is currently on hold pending Marcus Rashford's future. The club is negotiating with Barcelona over the England international, who has a £26 million buy clause. Barcelona are reportedly seeking to renegotiate the terms or take Rashford on loan for another season. Arsenal and Bayern Munich are also monitoring the situation. Once Rashford's fate is decided, United could move for AC Milan's Rafael Leao, valued at £50-60 million. Liverpool and Arsenal are also interested in the Portuguese winger.

In other news, Arsenal were among the clubs waiting in the wings during Kobbie Mainoo's period of uncertainty under former manager Ruben Amorim. The Gunners were keen on signing the midfielder before he committed to a new six-year contract worth £150,000 per week. Mainoo's winning goal against Liverpool underscored his importance to United, and his new deal includes a tribute song from fans.

Casemiro is set to depart Old Trafford as a free agent, with Inter Miami his preferred destination to join Lionel Messi. The Brazilian midfielder's exit has been widely anticipated, and United are preparing for life without him.

Meanwhile, the FA Youth Cup final between Manchester United and Manchester City Under-18s will be held at City's Academy Stadium on May 14, rather than the Etihad, due to ongoing construction at the latter. United's Under-18s have expressed disappointment, but City cited the North Stand construction as the reason for the venue change. The match is the first all-Manchester Youth Cup final since 1986.
