Club Atlético Banfield, affectionately known as "El Taladro" (The Drill), is a historic Argentine football institution founded on January 21, 1896, in the southern Buenos Aires suburb of Banfield. The club was established by English railway workers, with its name and distinctive green-and-white colors inspired by the local train station, which itself was named after the English town of Banfield.
