FC Groningen

Founded in 1971 through the merger of local clubs GVAV and Velocitas, FC Groningen is the proud football club of the northern Dutch city of Groningen. The club's identity is deeply intertwined with the region's character—resilient, hard-working, and fiercely independent. Their home is the modern Euroborg stadium, a 22,525-capacity venue that opened in 2006 and is known for its vibrant atmosphere, often referred to as "The Green Cathedral." Their greatest achievement came in 2015 when they won the KNVB Cup, defeating defending champions PEC Zwolle 2-0 in the final.
