Founded in 1927 by workers of the Cemento Cruz Azul company in the small town of Jasso, Hidalgo, Cruz Azul is one of Mexico's most storied and passionately supported football clubs. The team's identity is deeply rooted in its working-class origins, a spirit that continues to define its character. Originally known as Club Deportivo Cruz Azul, the club moved to Mexico City in 1971, establishing its home at the iconic Estadio Azteca, a venue it shares with rivals Club América. This colossal stadium, with a capacity exceeding 87,000, has been the stage for many of the club's greatest triumphs and most heartbreaking defeats. Cruz Azul's history is decorated with significant silverware.
