Founded in 1932, Danubio Fútbol Club takes its name from the Danube River, reflecting the heritage of its European immigrant founders. The club plays its home matches at the Estadio Jardines del Hipódromo, a compact ground in the Jardines del Hipódromo neighborhood of Montevideo.
