Danubio
Founded in 1932, Danubio Fútbol Club takes its name from the Danube River, reflecting the heritage of its European immigrant founders. The club plays its home matches at the Estadio Jardines del Hipódromo, a compact ground in the Jardines del Hipódromo neighborhood of Montevideo. Known as “La Franja” for their distinctive red-and-white striped shirts, Danubio has built a reputation for developing young talent through its renowned youth academy. The club has won four Uruguayan Primera División titles, with its most successful period coming in the 2000s.
