Team profile
Padova
Founded in 2014, Calcio Padova is the phoenix club that rose from the ashes of the historic Padova, which was declared bankrupt. This new entity represents the continuation of over a century of football tradition in the city of Padua, in the Veneto region of Italy. The club was re-established by a consortium of local entrepreneurs and supporters, determined to preserve the sporting identity of their city. The team plays its home matches at the Stadio Euganeo, a modern multi-use stadium with a capacity of approximately 32,000 spectators. Padua itself is a renowned university city, steeped in history and culture, and the football club is a central part of its civic pride. While the new Padova is building its own history, it inherits the legacy of its predecessor, which won the Serie B title in 1948 and famously reached the 1967 Inter-Cities Fairs Cup final, losing to Dinamo Zagreb. Legendary figures like Kurt Hamrin, who began his career there, and the prolific striker Antonio Di Natale, who emerged from its youth system, are forever linked to the club's identity. Padova's playing style is often characterized by a gritty, determined approach, reflecting the resilience of its fan base. The supporters, known as the *Patavini*, are fiercely loyal and maintain a strong sense of community ownership. A defining rivalry is the *Derby del Veneto* against Vicenza Calcio, a passionate regional clash. Currently, Padova competes in Serie C, the third tier of Italian football. After several seasons of near-misses in the promotion playoffs, the club's primary objective is to secure a return to Serie B. An interesting fact is that the club's badge intentionally echoes the design of the original, symbolizing a direct link to its past. The story of Padova is one of rebirth, local passion, and an unwavering quest to restore the club to its former standing in Italian football.
